Richard Muccini is a local Cape Cod artist residing in East Sandwich, MA with his wife and daughter. He is a native of Boston, where he graduated from Boston University with a BS/BA degree. He also holds a MBA from Suffolk University.

After his formal studies were completed, Dick Muccini established a career in the high tech industry that eventually brought him to New York City.

While living and working in New York, Mr. Muccini began studying at the Art Students League with a number of well-known artists, such as Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel and Sherrie McGraw. The primary focus of his studies at the Art Students League was still life and portraiture.

Since moving to Cape Cod he has added Cape Cod and New England scenes to his artistic endeavors. While I still enjoy painting still lifes, I find it is difficult to live on the Cape and not try to capture its natural beauty as well as that of New England.

Mr. Muccinis recent accomplishments include:

  • Accepted by jury to: The Cape Cod Art Associations "All New England Exhibition 2004"

  • Honorable Mention in the Cape Cod Art Associations "Winter Open Juried Exhibit 2004"

  • Accepted by jury to: The American Artists Professional Leagues "75th Grand National Exhibition - 2003", held at the Salmagundi Club in New York City

  • Accepted by jury to: The Cape Cod Art Associations "All New England Exhibition 2003"

  • A juried Artist Member of the Cape Cod Art Association

  • First Place in The Cape Cod Art Associations "2003 Student Exhibit-Arnold Desmarais class"

  • First Place in The Cape Cod Art Associations "2002 Student Exhibit - Arnold Desmarais class"

  •  Hon. Mention in The Cape Cod Art Associations "2001  Student Exhibit - Arnold Desmarais class"

He has continued his studies with Joseph McGurl, William Maloney, Janet Gilmore, Arnold Desmarais, Jane Lincoln and Gordon Jones. He also currently serves as President of the Cape Cod Art Association.

Richard Muccini resides on Cape Cod. He is a native of Boston where he graduated from Boston University, and then went on to receive a graduate degree from Suffolk University.

Richard established his business career in the high tech industry. When this lead to a move to New York City, he began his art studies at the Art Students League. He had the good fortune to study with such well-known artists as Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel and Sherrie McGraw. Still Life and portraiture were the primary focus of his studies.

Richard was drawn to the classical style of the early Dutch and Flemish Masters known as chiaroscuro, referring to the contrast between light and dark in the paintings. This approach gives a painting the feel of volume; giving two-dimensional objects the sense of being three-dimensional solid forms.

Since moving to Cape Cod, Richard has continued to pursue his love of art by working with local artists such as Leah Lopez, Joseph McGurl, William Maloney, Janet Gilmore, Arnold Desmarais, Jane Lincoln, and Gordon Jones. He also gives time to the artistic community on Cape Cod including the Cape Cod Art Association where he served on the board of directors from 2002-2006 and as President from 2004-2006.

Over the recent years, Richard has had his work accepted by a number of juried shows, including the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York City.
